Description

Paul Bablet, Suzanne Belperron, Siegfried Boès, La Maison René Bovin, Boucheron, Paul Brandt, Cartier, Jean Després, Jean Dunand, Dusausoy, Jean Fouquet, la maison Fouquet, Lacloche, Mauboussin, René Robert, Gérard Sandoz, Raymond Templier, Van Cleef & Arpels

Editorial Reviews

Art-deco and avant-garde jewelry, Ed. Norma, 9 inches x 12 inches ( 23 cm x 30.5 cm ), hardcover book with 256 full color pages

This book with 256 pages and 350 B/W and color illustrations presents the jewelry of the Art-Deco and avant garde period.
Art Deco, an expression widely used today to refer to creations from the interwar period, was invented a posteriori during the exhibition "The years 1925-Art Deco, Bauhaus, Stijl, New spirit" at Museum of Decorative Arts, in 1966.
This style affects all areas of artistic creation: jewelry, goldsmithing, furniture, architecture, glassware, fabric, painting, sculpture. After the First World War, the vitality of French creation made Paris the center of the world.
The International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts inaugurated on April 29, 1925 gives a considerable boost to the "modern" and "industrial" creation of works "of new inspiration and real originality executed and presented by artists, craftsmen, industrialists ".
The jewelers who belong to the avant-garde of Art Deco are looking for simple, geometric shapes, adopting an aesthetic inspired by the machine, by speed: crankshaft, toothed wheel, connecting rod, valve.
The associations of colors and materials become sharper, matt surfaces rub shoulders with polished surfaces, sapphire emerald, diamond lacquer, gold silver and ivory ...

The greatest jewelers and are presented with

Paul Bablet, Suzanne Belperron, Siegfried Boès, La Maison René Bovin, Boucheron, Paul Brandt, Cartier, Jean Després, Jean Dunand, Dusausoy, Jean Fouquet, la maison Fouquet, Lacloche, Mauboussin, René Robert, Gérard Sandoz, Raymond Templier, Van Cleef & Arpels
