With 256 pages, this hardcover book retraces the work of Raymond Delamarre (1890-1986).
A prolific sculptor, Raymond Delamarre (1890-1986) expressed, from the medal to the monumental, his quest for a refined statuary, with elegant forms through sixty years of creation. Grand Prix de Rome in 1919, he was propelled with brilliance in the interwar period.
The 1925 International Exhibition was the first step in a fruitful collaboration with Michel Roux-Spitz, which led them to the creation of the famous Monument to the Defense of the Suez Canal and the decoration of the façade of the chapel of the Nantes University Hospital.
During the Colonial Exhibition of 1931, he distinguished himself by creating four Beatitudes and Sacré-Cur. This artist's allegories of the sacred and the profane Paris, City of Light for the Universal Exhibition in Brussels, Regional Arts and Monuments for the Normandie ocean liner, Human Knowledge for the Palais de Chaillot, still overlooking the Place du Trocadéro today exalt French scientific and cultural knowledge. Involved in the reconstruction after 1945, he adorned the Grand-Couronne town hall, the Louviers post office and the Dijon postal check centre with bas-reliefs.
His sculptures give new impetus to the high schools of Brest, Perpignan and Fort-de-France. An ardent creator of the Art Deco period, he responds to private commissions, of which Mowgli will remain the most striking, both for the originality and the richness of its composition.

Sculpteur prolifique, Raymond Delamarre (1890-1986) a exprimé, de la médaille au monumental, sa quête d'une statuaire épurée, aux formes élégantes à travers soixante années de création. Grand Prix de Rome en 1919, il est propulsé avec éclat dans l'entre-deux-guerres.
L'Exposition internationale de 1925 est le premier pas d'une collaboration féconde avec Michel Roux-Spitz, qui les mènera à la réalisation du célèbre Monument à la défense du canal de Suez et au décor de la façade de la chapelle du CHU de Nantes.
Lors de l'Exposition coloniale de 1931, il s'illustre en réalisant quatre Béatitudes et un Sacré-Cur. Les allégories de cet artiste du sacré, comme du profane Paris, Ville lumière pour l'Exposition universelle de Bruxelles, Arts et monuments régionaux pour le paquebot Normandie, Les Connaissances humaines pour le palais de Chaillot, surplombant aujourd'hui encore la place du Trocadéro , exaltent le savoir scientifique et culturel français. Engagé dans la reconstruction d'après 1945, il pare de bas-reliefs l'hôtel de ville de Grand-Couronne, l'hôtel des Postes de Louviers ou encore le centre des chèques postaux de Dijon.
Ses sculptures redonnent de l'élan aux lycées de Brest, Perpignan et Fort-de-France. Ardent créateur de la période Art déco, il répond à des commandes privées, dont Mowgli restera la plus marquante, tant par l'originalité que par la richesse de sa composition.
